Sally Odell, the director of SMO Design, is an experienced graduate architect with over 20 years of expertise in both residential and commercial projects. With a deep passion for creating thoughtful, people-focused spaces, Sally thrives on collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and builders to deliver designs that are not only aesthetically compelling but also site-responsive and tailored to individual needs.
A graduate of the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (2003), Sally began her career as an architectural student at Kylie Makins Architect in Avalon. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), and in 2006, joined Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke Architects in Chippendale as a new graduate. During this time, she also founded SMO Design to take on private projects.
In 2014, Sally and her family moved to Shellharbour, marking their first step into regional living. After reconnecting with former colleague Siobhan Berkery, Sally joined Myson + Berkery Architects in Culburra Beach. A recent move to Bathurst in 2023 led to the re-establishment of SMO Design, with current projects spanning the Central West, Sydney, and Wagga Wagga regions.
SMO Design offers a range of architectural services including concept design, feasibility studies, Development Application (DA) drawings, SEEs, and SOHIs, Construction Certificate (CC) documentation, interior layouts and fitouts, consultant coordination, builder liaison, 3D renders, and shadow diagrams.
In her spare time, Sally enjoys hanging out with her family and friends and spending time in the outdoors. She is also a member of a local art studio under the tuition of Karen James and has been learning acrylic painting. Some recent works can be viewed on this site and commisions are welcome.
